Reading & Spelling Tutoring:
Joy offers a unique approach for people with reading/spelling challenges through offering both the direct tutoring with the Wilson Reading System® and movement activities which work to integrate neuro-developmental challenges that may have an impact on learning.
The Wilson Reading System®
- The Wilson Reading System® is an explicit, direct, systematic, and multi-sensory approach to teaching students (identified as learning disabled in the areas of language and reading, diagnosed with dyslexia, or struggling readers) how to accurately and fluently read and spell.
- The WRS provides a systematic and cumulative approach to teach total word structure for decoding (reading) and encoding (spelling).
- Based on Orton-Gillingham principles, WRS is a highly-structured remedial program that directly teaches the structure of the language to students and adults who have been unable to learn with other teaching strategies, or who may require multisensory language instruction.
